For anyone who missed it, here's a fabulous photo of the Mall on inaugural morning. Those black smudges are the 1.8 million people who gathered to watch Barack Hussein Obama take the oath of office. (Click on the image to see it large.)

We are still basking in the glow of America's first African-American president and the end of the Bush era. When that helicopter lifted off a great weight went with it. America has a long way to go, but at least we're on the road now and not wallowing in a muddy ditch.

very, very awesome! we were sitting in a bar in the Mexico City airport, watching CNN and the clock, trying to take in as much as possible before our flight to Veracruz. Claire and I were an inauguration party of TWO at the bar. But we toasted, cried and celebrated nonetheless! Then ran for our plane....
